The Teatralnaya Square Hotel is located in the Nikolsky Rows building, an outstanding architectural monument of St. Petersburg of the 18th century, built in record time - in just one year in 1787. An interesting fact: the financing of the construction of the Nikolsky market was carried out not by the city, but by the merchant class.

The location for the market turned out to be extremely successful due to the proximity of important waterways — the Catherine Canal (modern Griboyedov Canal) and the Kryukov Canal, which created ideal conditions for the delivery of goods and trade. The first floor was used for commercial premises, the second for offices and warehouses. Until the middle of the 19th century, there were "Iron Rows" in the courtyard, specializing in the sale of hardware. The range of goods was striking in its diversity: in addition to traditional food, there was a "Herring row", where fish was delivered directly from the river, and ceramic and metal products were traded.

Since the second half of the 19th century, the building has undergone repeated alterations and additions, but retained its purpose until the revolutionary events of the early 20th century. After the revolution, the market lost its original role – the production enterprises "Metallshtamp" and "Enamel Vessel" were located inside, which did not care about preserving the historical appearance of the building. By the end of the twentieth century, the facility had fallen into a state of complete ruin and was eventually closed for restoration by a private investor.

Only decades later, in the period from 2018 to 2020, the building reopened, becoming a place for comfortable hotels, restaurants and a popular public space.

Today, the courtyard of the complex pleases guests with exciting events all year round: in winter, guests will enjoy a real New Year's atmosphere with a cozy ice rink and a Christmas market, in summer jazz music sounds in the courtyard, interesting festivals are held, attractions are operating, and for the fifth season, a unique urban and Russia's largest mini golf club is operating. Thus, Nikolsky Rows has become a significant cultural center and a new point of attraction, attracting citizens and tourists with its opportunities for comfortable living, leisure and entertainment.
