The beginning of the history of this place dates back to 1724, when the marshy lands on the banks of the Fontanka, by decree of Peter I, were granted to the closest associate of the emperor, Prince Grigory Dmitrievich Yusupov. After some time, under the leadership of the famous Italian Domenico Trezzini, a wooden mansion was built in this place. A garden was laid out on a vast territory, two ponds and canals were dug.

In the 90s of the 18th century, a decision was made to rebuild the estate. The project was commissioned by the famous architect - Giacomo Quarenghi, and after the reconstruction the building was turned into a wonderful palace, made in the classical style. At the same time, the surrounding land was reconstructed.

For more than two centuries, the Yusupov Garden has been a great place to relax in the very center of a huge bustling city. The main attraction in the park is, of course, a pond with soft outlines of the banks and three islands in the middle. You can get to the islands by walking along small beautiful bridges.
